7 Rules for a happy design agency client relationship

Follow this simple guide to get the most out of your agency client relationship

When you been working and delivering as a professional graphic design studio for over 20 years like we have, you do tend to have a view of what makes and maintains a successful client agency relationship.

As an agency, these are our seven rules for a happy client/supplier life:

Clear expectations
Setting clear goals and establishing expectations on both sides is critical and should be in place from the outset.

Proactivity
A good agency is a proactive one. We always try to anticipate any problems or challenges that the project may encounter, in the short and long term.

Transparency and good communication
A good relationship requires mutual respect and two-way communication so that everyone feels included, valued and informed.

Let us be a partner, not a supplier
The more you as a client can let us, the agency, β€˜in’, the better. An effective partnership needs to be exactly that – a mutually beneficial arrangement with a shared goal and sense of shared success.

Utilise expertise
A successful relationship is built on mutual respect for the skills and expertise of each party.

Make room for creativity
Every project needs a clear brief to direct the creative process and establish criteria for success. But a good brief will not stifle the creativity of an agency.

Take your egos out of the equation
A successful partnership requires compromise and objectivity, with the end goal and user as the central concern.
